The main difference between personal brand photography and headshots is the variety of images and time spent together. I include professional hair and makeup during a full branding session with me. We can spend a few hours together in multiple locations around Denver, CO, to give you a large variety of images to choose from. We also include props such as laptops, cell phones, and items you work with daily. If you have a brand new business, a full branding photography session is likely what you’ll need.
If you already have a well-established business and brand and would simply like some updated photos, a headshot session may be the right choice for you. During every consultation I have with clients, we discuss where you will use your new images, and I can guide you on choosing what kind of session would be best for you.
4 Best Places to Use Updated Headshots or Personal Branding Photos
1. Social Media
Think of all of the places you typically market your business on social media. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. All of these are important to update with your new headshot or branding photos.
For better brand recognition, choose one image to be your profile picture across all platforms. If someone lands on your Instagram account and wants to find your LinkedIn page, having the same profile picture on both platforms will ensure the potential client that they’re on the right page.
2. Website
Your website is where most of your personal brand photography will be used in bulk. After having a branding session, it’s always a good idea to sprinkle your updated photos throughout your website. The main page to use your new photography will be your home page. Make sure your face is front and center when someone goes to your website. As a small business owner, facial recognition goes hand in hand with brand awareness.
3. Email Signature
Having a professional email signature with your updated headshot looks very professional. We don’t have much time to make a great first impression. If your first correspondence with a dream client is over email, having a professional email signature can set you apart from your competition.
4. Marketing Material
Add your new headshots or branding photos to your online marketing campaigns, landing pages, promotions, and local chamber of commerce. Most people forget to add themselves to their local chamber of commerce directory. If the directory allows for a digital photo to be added to your business listing, I always recommend using a headshot over a logo. It helps with brand awareness and facial recognition. Remember, your clients are human, just like you. And we all want to make a human connection.
