WOMEN OVER THE AGE OF 50 AND REMARKABLE
I’ve recently started working on a project that’s hitting close to home for me. I’m photographing women over the age of 50. As a part of this photography project, I’m also interviewing these women for an exhibit!
I’m turning 50 (years young) in April, and I want this photography project to be both an exhibit and a party. I want to celebrate my 50th trip around the sun with all of the beautiful clients that participate in the project with me.
THE ROLE OF AGEISM
Were you ever one of those children that thought that 30, 40, or even 50 years old was “old?” I know a lot of us were. When I was younger, and the years went by, I would catch myself thinking “This isn’t old!”
Not too long ago, the only images we saw of women over the age of 25 had been so heavily retouched that they didn’t look their age. If a movie star started to have frown lines or wrinkles, her fame and roles in movies would quickly dry up.
Beauty has been tied to youth in our society for so long, that women over 50 felt overlooked. Youth was the only thing media pushed out for so long, that we really didn’t have a good concept of what age or ageism was.
Thankfully, times have changed. Grey hair, wrinkles, and even ever-changing shapes of bodies are now being embraced and celebrated, and I’m so proud to be a small part of this change.
WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN ME
If you’re a woman over 50, I’m sure you have learned some hard lessons along your journey. I’m sure you have loved and lost; gained and found your self-confidence all over again. I would be honored to hear and share parts of your story.
I want to highlight, empower, and celebrate you right where you are. I want you to share advice you might give to younger generations. I want to change the narrative we’ve been told about ourselves and aging.
I want to give you one day where you feel incredible and pampered. I want it to be a day of relaxation and reflection.
I want to celebrate turning 50 with you!
WHAT TO EXPECT
Are you curious to know what a 50 and Remarkable session is like? They’re so much fun!
First, we have a consultation to discuss your vision for how you want to be photographed. I will coach you through wardrobe and provide some other helpful tips to prepare for your big day!
On the day of your session, a professional hair and makeup artist will pamper you. All you have to do is sit back and relax. Having your hair and makeup professionally done really boosts self-confidence. I’ve seen it happen right before my eyes.
During your photo session, I will guide you through a series of poses to flatter your body type, so you look and feel your best. We typically spend about two hours together, but we have so much fun that the time goes by so fast.
After your photo session, we will have a Zoom photo reveal so you can see your final images and make any print purchases you would like.
THE EXHIBIT
One of the most exciting parts of this project is the exhibit that will happen once all women have been photographed. As a participant in the project, you will automatically be invited to share in the celebration.
